Three years
3 years ago I was 10 years younger.
I heard it in an advertisement, I saw myself in it again.
The problem is that physics explains to us how it is possible to go forward in time, but never backwards.
But we can try to slow it down.
Hi, welcome back Between the Notes.
I warn you: I write this with my belly, without thinking too much about the selection of words, with the need first of all to read what I am thinking, using writing as an activity to subtract so much noise that goes through my head.
I've doubled my days in recent years and I've done it without realizing it.
Figuratively, I took two calendars of those with pages to tear, crossed them like decks of cards before shuffling them, and started tearing the pages, two by two.
I am working to understand the reasons for all this, they are multiple and, some of them, personal.
But so much of this distorted perception has left a trail, which leads straight, without any reasonable doubt, to the career choice I made.
On the subject of this newsletter.
To open a company before the age of 30, with a mindset, already starting older than the legal age.
I'm sure this isn't just my problem, on the contrary, I know it for sure:
Responsibilities, commitments, duties faced with awareness lead you to a state of continuous to-do-list, there is no time when there is not something to think about, I don't intend to do, even just think: with the clock ticking and the brain healing new character traits, printing one after the other like a factory.
Working on it in recent months, I have been slowly identifying agents delaying this month. I will try to share them with you, I would also like to know yours, to find new ways to pull the handbrake when needed.
1. Nature and Human Things
Why do we like the views? At least to me, they can put me back in my place, in my small place. They give me a dimension of magnitude on which I can make my things lose importance.
Even better if, in addition to nature, I find human things in the middle, like here, in Florence from where I am writing to you, it makes it climb the hill of Piazzale Michelangelo: from there you can see the entire city center, with human things built in a perfect way over time, that has existed for them, why shouldn't it be there for us?
2. Some People
I've always had a fascination with people.
I like to meet new people, and over the years, fortunately, I am getting better at doing it, but at the same time I really like to be there, only if they are right for the moment in which I am, I can explain myself better.
Unlike a beautiful view, each person has their own speed. There are those who will seem too fast for you and it will be nice to be close to them when you feel like accelerating, but it will definitely not be him or her that you will call to disconnect their brains. On the contrary, some for you will be ballast at times in your life when you are running, but the best for a post-work beer. I am selective in this regard: I think of who can best reverberate with my current condition.
3. Don't want it
The most difficult, but we must speak to each other clearly:
We like to go fast, we have it in the spirit of wanting to race, and having a company is a bit like having a tachometer always under our eyes, that you look at yourself and measure you measure and measure continuously.
Not wanting it means having the strength to slow down, even for an afternoon, to break the routine that often leads us to think that we always have something to do at all times, when instead of time bubbles for you there are, and will always be there.
We'll see you in the next note.
Marco.
