When it comes to cinema, we never talk enough about the writer. Of those who spend months and often years thinking, structuring and composing on paper the stories we watch on the big screen.
Today, in Italy, we feel distant from the associations and institutions that protect film writers and they can't really unite us in a community that gives us the opportunity to get in touch and exchange ideas. This lack leaves many screenwriters in the dark who have the potential to fill the greatest need of Italian cinema: stories!
Writing Monkeys was created to fill this gap.
Little monkeys’ home was born on Instagram, where we make screenwriting pills available: layout, structure, practical advice and analysis on the style of the most famous authors. Each content is a small writing lesson and is designed to be used as quickly and effectively as possible. In many cases, a quick analysis of the latest films released is also carried out, in order to make us understand the direction in which the most modern stories are going, winking at the most talked about movies and series of the moment.
Another fundamental aspect is interaction with the community. Many contents are designed to stimulate discussion, asking us first of all for advice from those who follow us. Whenever possible, we also try to integrate content with established screenwriters, who work or have worked for the most important productions, also trying to give the community the opportunity to ask questions directly to them.
We are always looking for ways and tools to make this union even more tangible and show a more collaborative and open approach to screenwriting, both among those who are still in the first manuscripts and for those who are already working.
Because we are convinced that sharing is the key to finding new ideas.
If the screenplay is the mathematics of cinema, our formula is:
Sharing + Knowledge + Ideas = Stories
Why Writing Monkeys?
The monkey writer theorem states that a monkey who randomly presses the keys of a keyboard for an infinitely long time will almost certainly be able to compose any fixed text. Those who want to write in Italy often do this, push the buttons, hoping to write a good story, but with difficulty. Because we see writing as something secret, a profession that only a few can learn and whose methods must be discovered with a magnifying glass. With Writing Monkeys, we want every little monkey to have the tools to write more consciously.
